For insurance agents
Asking a client for a Google review
Reviews come from timing, not from asking harder. There is a short window after you have visibly done something for somebody, and outside that window the same message gets ignored.
When to send it
Within a week of a claim resolved well, a save on a premium, or a problem you fixed. Not after a renewal, which feels like nothing happened.
What it has to do
- Refers to the specific thing you just did for them.
- Includes the direct link. Every extra step halves the response.
- Suggests what to write about, because 'what do I say' is the real obstacle.
- Makes it genuinely optional.
What to avoid
- Offering anything in exchange. Gift cards for reviews violate Google's policies, may run into state insurance rebating rules, and taint the reviews you already have.
- Asking everybody at once. A burst of reviews in one week looks like exactly what it is.
- Asking after a denial, however well you handled it. Let time pass.
A worked example
Names and details here are invented. Written the way an agent would actually send it, not the way a template would.
Writing these every week?
ProducrIQ is a tool a working insurance agent built for his own agency. Describe the situation the way you’d say it to a colleague and it writes the message in your voice, signed by your agency — including this one, under Review Request.
