For insurance agents
Asking an auto client about their home
The cross-sell that works is not a pitch, it is an observation. You already know something about their situation that they have not connected to insurance, and saying it out loud is the entire message.
When to send it
After a renewal, after a claim handled well, or when something in their life changed.
What it has to do
- Names the specific reason you are asking now, not a generic bundling line.
- Asks one question rather than describing a product.
- Makes clear you are not assuming they will move anything.
- Is short. A long cross-sell email reads as a brochure.
What to avoid
- Leading with the bundle discount. It is the weakest reason and it invites a price comparison you may lose.
- Asking for their current declarations page in the first message. That is work, and you have not earned it yet.
- Pitching a line they cannot buy from you. Check what you are appointed for first.
A worked example
Names and details here are invented. Written the way an agent would actually send it, not the way a template would.
Writing these every week?
ProducrIQ is a tool a working insurance agent built for his own agency. Describe the situation the way you’d say it to a colleague and it writes the message in your voice, signed by your agency — including this one, under Cross Sell Finder.
